unspkn
Child Safety Standards
Effective: April 10, 2026
unspkn maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Any user found creating, distributing, or possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) will be immediately and permanently banned, and reported to law enforcement.
1. Our Commitment
unspkn is committed to preventing the use of our platform for any form of child sexual abuse or exploitation. We actively work to detect, remove, and report CSAM and CSAE activity in compliance with applicable laws, including:
- The PROTECT Act (18 U.S.C. § 2252A)
- The REPORT Act (requiring reporting to NCMEC)
- Applicable state and international child protection laws
2. Prohibited Content and Conduct
The following are strictly prohibited on unspkn:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including images, videos, text, or AI-generated content
- Solicitation, grooming, or enticement of minors
- Sharing, requesting, or distributing exploitative content involving minors
- Any communication that sexualizes or exploits children
- Sextortion or coercion involving minors
3. Age Ratings
unspkn is rated 17+ on the App Store and Google Play. The app is not directed at children and is not designed for use by children.
4. Reporting Mechanisms
Users can report child safety concerns through the following channels:
- In-app reporting: Tap any user's profile and select "Report" with the appropriate reason category
- Email: safety@unspkn.app for child safety concerns
- General support: support@unspkn.app
All reports involving potential CSAE are treated as highest priority and escalated immediately.
5. Enforcement and Response
Upon receiving a report of potential CSAE or CSAM:
- The reported account is reviewed within 24 hours
- Offending accounts are immediately and permanently suspended
- Available metadata is preserved (see Section 6 for what data we hold)
- A report is filed with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline where applicable
6. Data We Hold and Encryption Transparency
unspkn is an end-to-end encrypted messaging app. We believe in being transparent about what this means for child safety compliance:
What we cannot access:
- Message content — all messages are encrypted with AES-256-GCM end-to-end. Encryption keys are stored on user devices only. We cannot read, scan, or review message content.
- Photos, voice messages, and files — all media is encrypted before upload. We cannot view or analyze media content.
What we do hold:
- User handles (no real names, phone numbers, or email addresses are required to create an account)
- Account creation timestamps
- Device identifiers (random UUIDs)
- Connection records (who is connected to whom)
- User reports submitted by other users
When responding to valid legal process or NCMEC reports, we provide the metadata listed above. We are unable to provide message content due to our end-to-end encryption architecture.
7. Prevention Measures
- User reporting: In-app reporting with dedicated categories including child exploitation
- User blocking: Any user can immediately block another user, preventing all future communication
- Account termination: Accounts violating these standards are permanently removed with no option for reinstatement
- App store ratings: Rated 17+ on both the App Store and Google Play
- Terms of Service: Mandatory acceptance during onboarding, explicitly prohibiting content that exploits or harms minors
